Lincoln Leadership Institute is thrilled to announce its newest faculty member, Dennis Owens.
Dennis literally puts the live in Lincoln Leadership Live. He is a 35-year television broadcaster and news anchor who has won the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award and 15 Emmy Awards. His story-telling, production knowledge, personality and passion for history make him a natural fit for the LLI team. He has guided our pandemic-related transition to online offerings and helps to make them memorable.
From Battlefield to Boardroom
In addition to producing videos from the battlefield, Dennis takes participants live to Little Roundtop and Pickett's Charge and explains why those important sites are relevant to their workplaces in 2021.
"I enrolled in the Lincoln Leadership Institute program twice in the past and found it to be fulfilling. It made me a better, more engaged and energized employee," Dennis said. "The chance to bring my skills to the LLI team and enhance their already impactful program is a real thrill. It's rewarding to see so many of the participants grasp the leadership concepts and take them back to their places of employment."
A Front-Row Seat to Leadership
Owens has covered presidents and a pope, political conventions and Super Bowls. His statewide political talk show is must-see TV for movers and shakers in the battleground state of Pennsylvania. He has enjoyed a front-row seat to some of the most powerful leaders on the planet and is eager to share that knowledge with Lincoln Leadership clients.
"The Lincoln Leadership Live goal is to enlighten and entertain, just like we do in a news broadcast," Owens said. "But we want our students to be engaged, re-energized and become better workplace leaders and followers. They will leave us ready to make a difference in their day-to-day endeavors."
The Power of Storytelling in Leadership Development
Dennis brings unique perspectives on leadership communication that only a veteran broadcaster can provide:
Media-Trained Leadership
Having interviewed countless leaders under pressure, Dennis understands what separates effective communicators from those who struggle when stakes are high. This experience translates directly to helping executives develop their own communication skills.
Historical Storytelling
Dennis's passion for history combined with his production expertise helps bring Civil War leadership lessons to life in ways that resonate with modern audiences. He bridges the gap between 1863 and today through compelling narrative.
Crisis Communication
Having covered major breaking news events, Dennis knows how leaders communicate during crisis situations. This expertise proves invaluable for participants facing their own organizational challenges.
Quality and Impact
Owens is wowed by the quality of the Lincoln Leadership team and its ability to bring the leadership lessons of 1863 into sharp focus for employees in our present-day world. "I have seen first-hand our team make an impactful difference in companies large and small around the world," Owens said. "Without question, the breadth of knowledge and quality of experience offered by Lincoln Leadership Institute is unparalleled."
Educational Background and Personal Interests
Owens is a Philadelphia native, a cum laude graduate of LaSalle University and lover of Philly sports and all things Gettysburg.
